2012.05.15  /  Bond zonder Naam launches gratitude campaign
Today a press showing took place in Werkhuizen MIN in Deurne, during which BZN introduced its latest project, about gratitude, in the presence of - amongst others - Leo Bormans (author of 'The World Book of Happiness'), several Flemish politicians and Thank-You-Man himself. Goal of this campaign is to let the Flemish people reflect on 'gratitude'. A Thank-Bank was founded to enable Flanders to do lots of 'online thanking' and like that increase its happiness interest and the national thank-capital. BZN also launches two original, interactive twin books; the 'Thank-You' book and the 'If You Please' book. One of them is to keep, the other one is to give away to someone towards whom you'd like to express your gratitude. Design Sense designed the website and Thank-You books (by order of Spindokter and Uitgeverij Lannoo).

For online thanking visit www.dankbank.be
The Thank-You books are for sale at the BZN webshop or in the bookstore.

Theme of this year's Heritage Day (on Sunday April 22nd) is 'Heroes'. Southern Westhoek too puts its heroes - wellknown heroes, unknown heroes, forgotten heroes, false heroes, ... - in the spotlights. Several activities are being organised in Westhoek-south to celebrate these heroes and to bring them under the attention. If you want to learn more about these Westhoek-heroes, you can also find lots of information in the regional heritage day brochure that has been released by Erfgoedcel CO7. This brochure, designed by Design Sense, provides more details about a large number of local heroes in an extensive, interesting article, and at the back of the brochure all practical information about the activities in Westhoek-south is gathered.

2011.06.18  /  New logo & season brochure for cultuurdienst Wingene
On Friday June 17th, cultuurdienst Wingene's first 'Cultuurborrel' (Cultural Drink) took place, a new event that from now on will be organised annually, to enable cultuurdienst Wingene to present the planned cultural activities for the upcoming season to everyone interested in culture. At this first 'Cultuurborrel' the new logo for cultuurdienst Wingene - a strong, characteristic one-of-a-kind logo - was introduced to the public. The season brochure 2011-2012 (also designed by Design Sense) was presented as well. Overall theme of the brochure is 'la vie en rose' and the design is fun and crowded, retro, romantic and nostalgic, setting the tone for a well-filled and varied upcoming cultural season. The first 'Cultuurborrel' took place in CC 'de Wissel' in Zwevezele and could count on a lot of enthousiasm. It was a successful evening with lots of drinks, a delicious dessert buffet and entertaining performances of - amongst others - De Casanova's and Casa Blanca.

2011.03.14  /  Suskewiet
In Flanders, games with finches have been very popular for many ages. This popular custom still is very much alive in the southern Westhoek and it has a long tradition, typical customs and a rich vocabulary. In 2011-2012 Cultuurdienst CO7 and Erfgoedcel CO7 join forces to capture these traditions and to share them with a broad audience through different projects and events. 2010.06.23+24  /  'From Braindrain to Braingain' in the Westhoek
Lots of Westhoek-youngsters do not return to their birth region after they graduate; they often start working in or around the city where they studied. LEADER-project 'From Braindrain to Braingain' wants to inform youngsters about the possibilities and career opportunities in the Westhoek, to show that a bright future awaits them in the Westhoek should they be prepared to return to it after their studies. RESOC Westhoek and VDAB got in touch with a lot of local younsters at a couple of youth activities in the area ('Sunbeam' in Diksmuide on June 23th, 2010 and 'De Nacht van de 1001 Salamanders' in Ypres on June 24th, 2010) and handed out chewing gum with a witty slogan, convincing them to 'stick in the Westhoek'. Design Sense took care of the packaging design. On this packaging the soon-to-be-online website www.werkindewesthoek.be is being announced, on which jobs and vacancies etc. will be posted in the near future.
